Hope for Mason
by Josie Valentine

As many of you know, Mason Ellsworth, a Shepherdstown youth, was in a car accident last July. He is still in a coma. Many caring people have hosted benefits for him. As we come to the holiday season, we can all think about him and his family.

The Ellsworth family is very talented. Mason plays the bassoon. His favorite color is purple. Music is a big part of Mason’s life. You can learn more about Mason and how he is doing by going to www.caringbridge.org. Type in “masonicyouth” (all one word) where it says website.

Please think of them as much and you can. Together, our good thoughts can make a difference.

It’s Fall!
by Emma Speck and Taylor Berry

Happy fall
to y’all.
Fall is here.
Let’s spread the word.
Even tell the big bird.
Football, soccer and Ballet
Will have to wait until another day.
It’s so fun to jump in the leaves

I love to feel the fall chilly breeze.

The Apple Tree
by Cole Bonbright

The apple tree is where people pick and eat apples.  There is one apple tree near the river that is about to get cut down.  The apples are just turning ripe and one day  from now, the tree cutters are due to come.  Willie, an ordinary kid, has to save the apple tree.  They arrive.  Willie says no, please don’t cut the tree down.  The cutter gets ready while Willie jumps in.  He makes them listen to his words.  The apple tree is saved.  Say what you think to help others and nature.
